Trump impeachment hearings: Morrison, Volker provide opening statements

On day three of the congressional impeachment hearings into U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., Timothy Morrison, former National Security Council aide, and Kurt Volker, Trump’s former special envoy to Ukraine, testified.

In his opening statement, Morrison reaffirmed that he does not know who the whistle blower is, nor does he “intend to speculate” who this person might be.

Volker said during part of his opening statement that his focus during his former role was to advance foreign policy and U.S. national security interests by pushing back on “Russian aggression,” and supporting the development of a “strong” and “prosperous” Ukraine.
